According to art, I think videogames, movies do not be art because they just product of popular culture. People can buy these stuffs in toys shop or some shops but art cannot be sell somewhere. Poker, monopoly are not art because there is some rules to say how you can play these games and also art have not some rules to show some feelings. Maybe people have to need a skill to play these games. They do not need to have creativity for playing these games.
I choosed "Mary Flanagan domestic 2" games because there is many creative things to effect who want to play this game, but also it is not mention to have talent for playing this game. People just play because of fun, they cannot see it is art or not, it is creative thing or not. In this industry people use some creative things because of entertainment. So there is no art in popular culture stuffs. Art can be exist independently without someones intervention.

ReplyDeleteInstead of thinking the pop stuff as art, what about pop stuff as a medium of art. Can video game be a medium for the artist to deliver her message, expressing her feelings through a popular medium? If she does have a feeling that want to deliver through the games, isn't that suited your definition of "all arts should show some feelings"?
You also stated that people just played it for fun, which may raise a question of the quality of audience. As a lot of artists' works are not being recognized as art when they were alive, until one day someone found something in their works hence declare them as art, would it be the same case for video game? Some audiences may not find the values or feelings in the works, while some could, do you think that is enough to fit in your definition?
When stating a definition of art, remember you may include and exclude a lot of things, which may contain lots of counter examples, and have to be prepared for argument.
In this art the painter has feelings. I think she ties to explain some things without using easy way to understanding. She used 3G effects to give some exited thing to provide to think something about it. Because of her view, I would like to choose this photo to show some art things in the game. Normally I don't agree the games are an art but now I can see some interesting figures to get some feelings about this art. The artist show her voice about the whole stories what she wants to mention. Models, challenges show people many feeling to get new idea about it.
